Today’s post was inspired by Sam Ewen of Interference Inc. I interviewed Sam for a webcast with StartupsLIVEtv and in our banter conversation after the show he joked with me about the scarf I was wearing today. Let me explain – I was wearing a blue and white scarf with a short sleeve shirt. It’s COLD down here in south Alabama right now, but not cold enough for a jacket, therefore I was wearing the scarf simply for “fashion” purposes. So when I told Sam about Fashion Trend Spotting he asked if I was selling my scarves there? HaHa. No. However, it did inspire me to take a look around at scarves and give my two-cents on them.

So here you go. This is a photo of someone’s scarf collection. They sure do have a lot of scarves!

What I love about scarves

You can wear a scarf to accent just about ANY outfit! you can wear a dressy scarf to stay warm with your cocktail or evening gown, you can wear a fun vintage scarf to add flavor to your casual jeans and top with jacket, you can wear a fun flirty scarf with your sundress. Also, you can wear scarves in so many different ways, the simple drape around the neck, the double drape around the neck, the fold and pull-through at the neck, around your head, around your waist, ect. (Note: I made up those names of scarf-wearing abilities. Those are not official scarf-wearing titles.)

How can we make them different

I would love to see people wearing scarves that they made out of old t-shirts that meant something to them. Or grandma’s dresses, grandpa’s ties, be creative! I’m going to start with my old sorority t-shirts (Go Phi Mu!) once I find them all. I’m going to make a PINK scarf out of my old Phi Mu t-shirts.
