The Little Black Dress

Almost every fashion magazine or blog you read will tell you “every woman needs a little black dress.” Well, I have to say I agree. But we need to change up that little black dress a bit. Think of it this way, one little black dress that you can wear the very same dress to a first date, a friend’s birthday dinner, church, to the park, to the mall, and so many other places.

How to multiply one dress

Here’s how you do that. First, find a little black dress that you just love. Remember it needs to be solid black, not too dressy but I also wouldn’t recommend a “t-shirt” dress, as it can come across as too casual. This is one similar to my little black dress.

The dress can absolutely be worn as-is for jsut about any occasion. However, this site is all about helping you find your very own personal style. Here are some examples of how you can do that with the little black dress.

Birthday Party

First, for a birthday party you can add a wide, grograine, hot pink ribbon around the waist as a belt. Be sure the ribbon sits right on top of the seam (if your dress has a seam). Tie a large bow and let the bow hang either directly in the back of the dress or to one side.

Church Event

Second, for a church event add a cute cap-sleeve jacket. It can be in black or a different color like red or tan. This will give the dress a more modest look but also still show your sense of style.

At the Park

For the park, you can add a wide brim hat to shield the sun from your face, a cute pair of bright colored flip-flops and don’t forget the accessories – big earrings and some bangle bracelets would do the trick.

On a First Date

On a first date, (assuming it’s a dinner date) you can add sexy stilettos a nice drop necklace, and even a dainty broach to the front. Grab a colored clutch to finish the look and you’re ready to “woo” him.

You be the Designer

Now give it a try – go ahead, be a designer yourself. Find your own little black dress or go pick one up at the store and then search through your closet, shoe rack and jewelry case to find ways you can dress it up, dress it down, or just dress it “you.” Leave me a comment with your ideas on how to make the little black dress fun, I always love to heard from you.
